We all love the countryside, rolling hills, fresh air and gorgeous views. So when we got invited to Cameron Lodges on Loch Lomond to stay in one of their Luxury Lodges On Loch Lomond. I only had to think for a nano second. But what is there to do at Cameron Lodges for families?
Luxury Lodges At Cameron Lodges Loch Lomond For Families
As a family, lodge breaks have featured highly on our travel wish list. We try to get at least one lodge break booked in a year. There is nothing quite like visiting a home from home, away from the pressures of life. Endless activities and football matches. Somewhere we can have a lie in, a morning chill, all hang out together, even play the odd board game.
The problem is, our family is changing. Add the fact that I seem to be getting fussier into the mix. The list of must have requirements is quite rigid. Top of the list being luxury and quality.
Closely followed by activities for the boys and great restaurants. I don’t want to go and stay somewhere that is not as nice as my own home, what is the point in that?
I want to feel the wow factor of a property and enjoy ooohhhing and ahhhing at how gorgeous it is. And the boys to feel that buzz of wanting to explore. To be excited by the activities on offer.
Cameron Lodges Offers Luxury Family Lodges, Great Activities And Wonderful Dining Options.
From the moment you pull into the sweeping drive, the scale and beauty of the estate is apparent. In fact it takes your breath away. Located on Loch Lomond the air is fresh, and the views are simply stunning. And as soon as we arrived and had checked in which was very quick and easy we felt relaxed.
Getting Around At Cameron Lodges, Loch Lomond
Cameron House Estate is set over 2 sites, which at first seems a little overwhelming. But actually, it is very easy to negotiate your way around.
You can move between sites effortlessly via a super efficient concierge shuttle service any time of day and evening.
Cameron Lodges estate has a championship golf course, and a 9-hole course, the most divine spa, many dining options including a Michelin Star restaurant.
It also offers a whole host of activities from cruises on the Loch, clay pigeon shooting, quad biking and archery.
Our 3 bedroom luxury lodge was a short walk from the main house, nestled amongst a variety of lodges offering from 1-4 bedrooms. The lodges are well laid out in into a pretty little village overlooking the golf course and Loch.
The wonderful thing about Cameron Lodges is that you can follow to your own pace. You can eat in should you wish too, or dine out.
We chose both options. On the day of our arrival we cooked dinner in our open plan living area, which lends itself to keeping all the family involved. We all mucked in and chatted as we prepared dinner and set the table. The fact that we were all involved was perfect, and exactly what you want from a luxury holiday home.
We were able to eat and then chill together after a chaotic week. And spend the evening snuggled up warm and cozy discussing our plans for the next day and playing the odd game of draughts to Joe’s slightly one-sided set of rules.
On Site Dining At Cameron Lodges, Loch Lomond
There is a selection of dining options at Cameron House:
The Boat House
The boathouse is perfect when traveling with family, offering a nautical decor. Such, that you can’t stop wandering around, admiring the styling that makes the Boat House feel so very cool.
The menu was extensive, offering something to suit the whole family. I had the mussels and they were delicious. However the Boat House is one of those restaurants that you actually feel quite envious of the rest of you parties’ meal. Even though you love your own dish.
The Club House
The Club House is pretty laid back, but very stylish and offering a completely different menu and delicious. I left wishing we had time to dine in the main hotel as all the menus looked so great. Having such choice is always a big deal for me. You feel you have the freedom to choose.
If you are looking for a holiday lodge with many great quality dining options then Cameron Lodges really is a perfect choice.
Activities For Families At Cameron Lodges On Loch Lomond
Play A Round Of Golf On The Championship Golf Course.
On our first morning the boys set out for a game of golf. I like golf, it is a great family activity and something we all love, although we don’t play as often as we would like. But I had other plans. So the boys heading down to the nine-hole golf course.
Cameron Lodges offers a nine-hole golf course, which was perfect for the Christie boys. Or should you be more serious player you can head to the professional 18-hole course.
Nine holes were more than adequate for Chris and the boys. Especially Joe as he probably managed 7 before moaning about his tired legs. But the fact that they all retired in high spirits and full of it spoke volumes.
Check Out The Spa At Cameron Lodges
Whilst the boys spent 2 hours trying to beat each other at golf. I slope off to the spa for a leisurely swim and the best full body massage ever.
The spa at Cameron Lodges is one of the nicest spa’s I have ever visited, it is so luxurious. And the most relaxing environment, with a huge choice of treatments.
Or should you just want to chill in the thermal spa there are many thermal rooms, and you could easily lose a day. I do aim to have a little trip without the boys to spend more time in the spa maybe even a spa lunch and evening cocktails.
Take A Champagne Cruise
The champage cruise was so special, there is nothing like the feeling of being out in an expanse of water. It just makes you feel so relaxed. And what a wonderful way to explore the coastline of Loch Lomond.
Our pilots Paul and Sam were fantastic and told us lots about the surrounding islands. And wow the views were just like nothing I have never seen, another glorious example of why Scotland has such a wonderful reputation.
Loch Lomond is truly extraordinary. I have taken so many photos, but I will save them for Sunday.
Play at Being Robin Hood With A Game Of Archery
It seems archery is not a strength of mine. However our amazing instructor did have me hitting the target by the end of the lesson.
Yet Chris and the boys seem to be distant relatives of Robin the great man himself. Not only were they amazing but they are still going on about it. Jack only had one or two attempts and hit bull’s-eye every time.
However despite my being the weakest archer in the family, we had a wonderful lesson. We came away feeling that the session had been productive as we had all learn something, and so much fun.
Take A Trip In The Sea Plane
Should you want to see the sights from the air you can do this via seaplane.
See The Local Area Of Loch Lomond
Cameron Lodges and Loch Lomond is in a beautiful rural area and there are local attractions to see. We spent a wonderful afternoon visiting Luss.
The scenery is breathtaking, and it is wonderful to get a glimpse of Scottish village life, even pop into the local pub for a glass of wine by the roaring fire.
The Village Of Luss, said to be one of the smallest but busiest villages in Scotland. It attracts many guests all year round, not only due to its sheer beauty.
But it is also where the 80s show take the High Road was filmed. And as you are walking around you can see why it is a must visit spot in Scotland, its unspoilt beauty is breathtaking.
What Did We Think Of Cameron Lodges On Loch Lomond?
It is a wonderful place for a tranquil family stay in Scotland. There are stunning areas to explore and so many activities and walk onsite to keep families busy and allow a little time for the spa too.
We were hosted at Loch Lomond but all of our options are our own.
